Plan an unforgettable family camping experience with Lick Creek Park in the Dark

By Kelli Nesbitt, Parks & Recreation Marketing Coordinator

If you think you have to travel a few hours for a memorable campout with your family, think again. You can enjoy stargazing, storytelling, night hikes — and, of course, hot dogs and s’mores — in College Station’s beautiful Lick Creek Park.

The 523-acre property is the crown jewel of our park system and is the ideal spot for an easy-to-access outdoor adventure for your family. Join us at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, or Friday, Oct. 22, for Lick Creek Park in the Dark, a classic overnight experience at our area’s premier nature preserve.

We’ll teach you camping basics, but you need to bring a tent, supplies, snacks, and drinks. It’s also a good idea to pack sleeping bags, flashlights, a tent lantern, bug spray, and folding chairs. Electricity won’t be available, so bring extra batteries, too.
