The high school years are an ideal time to set a positive direction for our lives. As teens start driving and become more independent, they also begin working their first jobs and networking.
The late teenage years are a time of learning, growing, and figuring out what to do with your life while charting a path to get there.
At the Lincoln Recreation Center, we stress the importance of acquiring professional skills and knowledge as early as possible. That’s why we’ve partnered with Workforce Solutions Brazos Valley for a free three-part job readiness workshop and job fair for teens from 15-18 years old.
Whether you’re looking to score your first job or preparing to interview for the next one, the resources and information provided can help you succeed.
Job Readiness Workshops: Learn the skills you need to secure and retain employment in a three-session course scheduled for one Thursday a month from February through April. Registration is required before each class. Here’s the schedule:
Thursday, Feb. 3, 5:30- 7 p.m.: Positive work ethics and responsibilities, including communication and listening skills.
Thursday, March 3, 5:30- 7 p.m.: Completing a job application and building your resume.
Thursday, April 7, 5:30- 7 p.m.: Dressing for success and mock interviews.
Job Fair: Connect with local employers looking for summer and part-time employees at our Job Fair on Thursday, May 5, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Be sure to dress to impress and bring your resume.
Don’t miss these free resources and opportunities to gain a substantial advantage in the job market and set the course for a prosperous future.
