Grace Hallowell:

What’s up College Station? My name is Grace Hallowell, and today I am joined with Samantha Beach, our activities assistant for our parks and recreation department. Good morning, Samantha.

Samantha Beach:

Good morning. How are you?

Grace Hallowell:

I’m doing well.

Samantha Beach:

Good.

Grace Hallowell:

So we’re going to talk about some exciting things today, starting with Food Truck Wednesdays.

Samantha Beach:

Yes, ma’am. Food Truck Wednesdays is going to be at the Wolf Pen Creek Festival Site. It’s going to be the second and the fourth Wednesday of the month, starting on January 25th and going all the way through until April 26th. Is going to be from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. There will be some really great food trucks out, the names of which will be announced the Monday beforehand on our City of College Station Facebook page and our City of College Station Twitter account.

We will be having music and yard games, some really great ones. So we’ll have Spike Ball, which I’ve never actually played.

Grace Hallowell:

Me either.

Samantha Beach:

So I’m excited to see that one. We’re going to have something called Soccer Darts. It’s a huge inflatable dart board, and the soccer balls are going to be wrapped around with Velcro, so that’s going to be fun to watch. We’ll have badminton, and we will have… What I’m really excited about is going to be our connect four. So that should be really fun. There’s going to be music. And again, we’ll have the food and the games. Should be a really great time. There’s going to be something for everyone, our families, students, seniors. If you’re a citizen of College Station or Bryan or any of the surrounding areas, I’d like to encourage you to come on out and enjoy some really great food and music and games.

Grace Hallowell:

Yes, something for everyone. Okay. So movies in the park. I’m really excited about this one.

Samantha Beach:

Yes. I am too. So movies in the park are going to be the last Sunday of the month, and that’s going to be coming up, so January 29th. And that’s going to go all the way till April 30th. So we’ll have some family-friendly movies playing on our 32-foot high definition inflatable screen. We’re going to have a really good lineup of movies. On January 29th, we’ll have How to Train Your Dragon, February 26th will be The Wiz, March 26th is A Bugs Life, and April 30th is going to be The Little Rascals.

Grace Hallowell:

I love that one.

Samantha Beach:

Me too. Guests are encouraged to bring their blankets, lawn chairs, something to sit on. Picnic baskets are welcome. And we will have food available to purchase there as well. There is going to be free parking at Post Oak Mall, and there’ll be handicapped parking on Colgate Street. The gates are going to open at 6:00 PM and the movie’s going to start at 7:00 PM.

Grace Hallowell:

Perfect. Sounds like a family fun, free, good time. I know I have a memory as a child of going to something like Movies in the Park at my church and it was the Muppets from Outer Space, which I always have such a special place for that movie because of that event.

Samantha Beach:

That’s sweet.

Grace Hallowell:

Is there anything else you can tell us, and where can people find out more about these events?

Samantha Beach:

For more information, you can visit the cstx.gov/events. There are a lot of really great events coming up, so I’d like to encourage everyone to go to the website to check them out. Again, it is cstx.gov/events.

Grace Hallowell:

All right. Well, thank you so much, Samantha, for being here.

Samantha Beach:

Thank you for having me.

Grace Hallowell:

And that’s what’s up.
