Savor the spring season with a full slate of tantalizing Parks and Rec activities in May

With May marking the peak of the spring season, the College Station Parks and Recreation Department's schedule is packed with programs, events, and activities to get you primed for the summer.


Saturday, May 3

Show 'Em Off Car & Bike Show

Get your motor running and show off your car or bike as one of Bryan-College Station's best during the Show 'Em Off Car & Bike Show on Saturday from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Recreation Center. All makes and models are welcome!

The show is free and open to the public, but participation is $5 per car or bike. Registration is required by Saturday, and your car or bike must be in place by 10 a.m.

Saturday, May 10/ Saturday, May 31

Yoga in the Park

Unwind, connect, and rejuvenate with Yoga in the Park at Wolf Pen Creek on May 10 and May 31. All skill levels are welcome, seasoned yogis and beginners alike. The programs begin at 8 a.m.

Yoga mats are provided while supplies last, but feel free to bring your mat and a water bottle to stay hydrated. Don't miss this chance to enjoy the outdoors while working on mindful practices to ease your stress.


Saturday, May 10

World Migratory Bird Day

Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day with the Gary Halter Nature Center on Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m.-noon. Festivities include special birding tours, bird games, educational booths, storytime, animal ambassadors, seed garden giveaways, and tips on creating a bird-friendly yard or home.  


Wednesday, May 14/Wednesday, May 28

Food Truck Wednesday

Middle of the week blues? Join us at Wolf Pen Creek Park on May 14 and May 28 from 6-9 p.m. for Food Truck Wednesday. We'll announce the food trucks on the city's Facebook and X (Twitter) pages on the Monday before each event.

Enjoy yard games and music while savoring a meal from local food trucks. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets, but alcohol, glass containers, and pets are prohibited.

Cash and credit cards are accepted. Free parking is available at the Meyer Senior and Community Center along Colgate Drive.


Friday, May 16

Seniors Night Out: Dancing and Games

Seniors ages 55+ are invited to join us at the Southwood Community Center from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, May 16, for Seniors Night Out, an evening of dancing and games while dressed in themed attire. Dance to country music and oldies from the '60s to the '80s, or play a game of cards, board games, or dominoes.

 Light refreshments will be served, and registration is not required.


Saturday, May 17

Latin Dance Social

Put on your dancing shoes and prepare for a night of bachata and salsa dancing at the Latin Dance Social on Saturday, May 17, at the Southwood Community Center from 7:30-10 p.m.

Whether you're an expert or need tips, our dancing host can help get your hips moving!


Saturday, May 31

Dysfunkshun Junkshun/Brown Sugar Band

For more than two decades, the Starlight Music Series has attracted music lovers for free, family-friendly entertainment under the stars. The entertainment continues with an evening of R&B music featuring Dysfunkshun Junkshun with support from the Brown Sugar Band on Saturday, May 31, at the Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater. Gates open at 6 p.m., with the concert beginning at 7.

Free parking is available at Post Oak Mall (old Macy's side), and accessible parking is available along Colgate Drive.
