Treat your family to an unforgettable overnight campout at Lick Creek Park in the Dark

Want to get away from the city lights and experience the thrill of an overnight campout? Here’s your chance to set up a tent, roast s’mores and discover the creatures that come alive after dark.

Join College Station Parks and Recreation for Lick Creek Park in the Dark at Gary Halter Nature Center on Friday, March 20, and Friday, April 10. The camps begin at 6 p.m. and end at 7 a.m. the next morning.

Take in the beauty of Lick Creek Park at night, learn basic camping, and make the adventure your own with hot dog dinners, nature presentations, s’mores, and guided night hikes.

Schedule of Events

6 p.m.Check in and set up your campsite
 Nature presentations, activities, s’mores, and games begin
7 p.m.Hot dog dinner
7:30 p.m.Night hikes begin
9 p.m.Nature presentations and night hikes end
9:45 p.m.S’mores, activities, and games end
10 p.m.Quiet hours begin

The cost is $8 per person, and children 3 and younger are free. An adult 18 or older must accompany children. Registration closes on the Wednesday before each camp, and spots are limited. Pets and alcohol are not allowed.

Bring a tent, supplies, snacks, and drinks. Sleeping bags, flashlights, a tent lantern, bug spray, and folding chairs are recommended. Electricity is not available, so be sure to pack extra batteries. If you don’t have camping gear, Texas A&M’s Outdoor Adventures offers rental equipment.
