Spring is the season of renewal — the perfect time to clear out the clutter and form healthier habits. If you’re looking to reduce waste and recycle more effectively this year, these six simple habits will help keep our community beautiful and our landfill lean.

  1. Keep non‑recyclables out of the bin by placing only accepted materials in your recycling cart.
  2. Return single‑use grocery bags to the recycling kiosks available at most grocery stores.
  3. Choose products with minimal packaging or items approved in the local recycling program.
  4. Donate reusable goods — such as gently used clothing, toys, leftover paint, and household items — to local nonprofits.
  5. Limit single‑use materials whenever possible to reduce overall waste.
  6. Download the College Station Curbside app and receive reminders of your solid waste, recycling, and bulk/brush collection days. The easy-to-use app lets you view your personalized collection schedule and notifies you of any changes due to weather or other conditions.
