As the College Station Parks & Recreation Department prepares for the 23rd annual Jingle Bell Fun Run prior to the B/CS Christmas Parade on Dec. 2, my job as the department’s marketing coordinator takes on a new challenge -- how to convince people like me to participate.
With that spirit in mind, I present the top 10 reasons for you to take part:
- It will give you permission to enjoy those holiday sweets -- or an extra serving of eggnog.
- You can run with your favorite four-legged furry friend.
- You get a 100 percent cotton long sleeve t-shirt as proof you participated.
- Kids can join in, which means nap time for you later.
- You get to be part of the B/CS Parade without sitting on a float for three hours.
- We provide the jingle bells; you provide the shoe laces.
- When you’re done, we’ll shuttle you back to your car.
- We don’t time you, so your results won’t end up all over the internet.
- All proceeds will benefit the United Way of the Brazos Valley.
- Running is optional!
Makes you want to lace ‘em up and head to the starting line, doesn’t it?
The two-mile run starts at the corner of University Drive and South College Avenue and ends at the corner of Texas Avenue and Villa Maria. The $15 entry fee includes the t-shirt. You can register online through Nov. 29 at rectrac.cstx.gov, in-person at the Parks & Recreation Office at 1000 Krenek Tap Rd., or on race day from 12:30-1:30 p.m. near the starting line.
For more information, call 979.764.3486 or e-mail parksregistation@cstx.gov.
I’ll see you at the finish line!
