Five merry new twists for Christmas at the Creek

While many residents are winterizing their closets and planning their Thanksgiving feasts, the Parks and Recreation Department is preparing for Christmas at the Creek with the sounds of Justin Bieber's Christmas echoing through our office.

The transition from Christmas in the Park to Christmas at the Creek in 2011 was a huge success as more than 20,000 people attended the four nights of festivities. The result was one tired Santa!

As we embark on the second year of Christmas at the Creek, here are five merry new twists for 2012:

1. Taking the hayride to see Santa and his new home at the Arts Council building.
2. Singing along with local gospel choirs as they bring the spirit of Christmas alive.
3. Curling up on the amphitheater hill with your pet to watch Polar Express or How the Grinch Stole Christmas on a larger-than-life screen.
4. Shopping for the perfect gift through a wide variety of on-site local vendors.
5. Enjoying an original Christmas play that brings out the kid in any Grinch.

While unwrapping the new sights and sounds of Christmas at the Creek, you can still enjoy the traditional photos with Santa, inspiring dance performances and the always-popular live nativity. Delicious food and drinks again will be available to purchase from your favorite local food trucks, and the entire Wolf Pen Creek Park is available for memorable family strolls to absorb the season’s sights and sounds.

In addition, delightful drive-thru lighting displays will decorate the beautiful 47-acre Stephen C. Beachy Central Park from Nov. 22- Dec. 31.
