By Jennifer Cain, Director of Capital Projects and Facility Management
Have you been looking for an easy way to keep up with the City of College Station’s capital projects, including those approved in the 2022 bond election? Until now, keeping track of those dozens of projects was a daunting challenge.
Thankfully, those days are over.
We recently launched an interactive online map that displays each project’s location, phase (design, bidding, construction, or warranty), estimated completion date, and contact information. Some water, wastewater, and electric projects aren’t shown because of security concerns, and the map only displays current projects, at least for now.
The best part is that the online tool is simple to use and intuitive. You can sort it by type of project (parks, facilities, streets, etc.) or project phase and zoom in on areas of interest. For more information, click the icons. The interactive map is updated as information changes and will be improved based on feedback.
Our interactive map is not the only way to get project updates. We also host public and one-on-one meetings, conduct surveys, and post updates on the city’s social media channels.
The Information Technology, Public Works, and Capital Projects Departments collaborated to develop the map. Our overarching goal was to present up-to-date information clearly to provide the best possible user experience.
