The annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial is always a somber but inspiring event as we pause to honor those who recently gave their lives while protecting us. Monday’s event at Fire Station No. 2 on Rio Grande Boulevard was no different. As part of National Fire Prevention Week, local officials and first responders gathered to honor the 83 firefighters from across the nation that lost their lives in the line of duty in 2011. Six of those brave souls were from Texas.
