Public Works employee earns runner-up finish at International Road-E-O
Willie Everline, a route manager in the Sanitation Division, placed second in the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) International Truck Road-E-O on Saturday in Denton.
A city employee for more than 11 years, Willie earned his runner-up trophy in the Roll-Off truck competition, which includes a timed obstacle course that is set up for seven specific scenarios. Drivers have to demonstrate good safety habits and smoothness of operation, and are graded on both while navigating the course.
Willie advanced to the international competition earlier this year when he placed second at the Texas Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (TxSWANA) Annual Truck ROAD-E-O in Dallas.
The SWANA International Road-E-O is an annual competition that gives first- and second-place state ROAD-E-O winners from across North America the chance to compete for cash prizes, awards, trophies and for the title of “Top Gun.” The event fosters a spirit of competition and goodwill while promoting professionalism and safety, and provides an opportunity to network with peers.
