The College Station City Council gathers Thursday at city hall for its workshop (6 p.m.) and regular (7 p.m.) meetings. Due to a short agenda this week, here are three items to watch instead of the usual five:
- BCS Marathon: The council will hear a workshop presentation on the Scott & White BCS Marathon, which has collected about $375,000 over the last three years for local children’s charities and also raises funds and awareness for the Mercy Project. The city provided $10,000 in hotel tax funds for the 2013 event.
- School Zone Bike Lanes: The council will receive a workshop report on the possible implementation of bike lanes in school zones.
- Property Rezoning: The council will consider changing the zoning district boundaries from Rural to Suburban Commercial for about 1.3 acres at 13913 Wellborn Rd. to allow for development.
Note: The Brazos County Municipal Utility District item has been pulled from this week’s agenda. The council is expected to consider it at its March 27 meeting.
The meetings can be watched live on Suddenlink Ch. 19, or online. Previous council meetings are archived on the website. A detailed live blog from the meetings will be posted on this site and also can be accessed through the city’s Facebook page.
