If you enjoy flexible hours and a fun working environment, a summer job as a camp counselor for the City of College Station might be your perfect opportunity.

Being a camp counselor is unlike any other job. You serve as a mediator, teacher, coach, mentor, and surrogate parent. It’s not a job for everybody, and it’s not always easy – but it’s worth every second when you see your campers grow as people by the end of the summer.

A typical camp day produces any number of teachable moments, along with tons of good times and laughter. The fun begins early with free time on the playground before transitioning to the gym for basketball, indoor soccer, and other games you probably haven’t played since elementary school.

After a break for snacks, the fun continues with nostalgic small games such as elephant ball, telephone, down by the banks, and more. Just before lunch, you’ll put on your artist hat and reach in your creativity bag with weekly art themes like Marvel vs. DC, Frozen and Around the World.

After a lunch, you’ll lead an afternoon round of free time, athletic games, small games, and arts and crafts. While you’re having a blast leading your campers, you’ll also be developing skills that will enhance your resume.

Sound like an ideal way to spend your summer?

The work schedule is May 30-Aug. 5, with multiple shifts available from 7:45 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Mandatory training is set May 23-26 (9 a.m.-5 p.m.) and June 26 (7:30-9:15 p.m.).

Camp’s what you make it, so let’s make it rock!
