When three new artists – Kaitlin Lindley, Stereotype, and Reptilian – take the stage at Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater on Saturday, July 2, their presence will mark a historic moment for the 15th season of College Station’s popular Starlight Music Series.
Since 2002, Starlight has provided free concerts to College Station residents and visitors with music lineups crafted months in advance by the College Station Parks & Recreation Department. But this year, the city introduced an online contest where fans could vote for a select group of musicians to decide the featured artists for the final concert of 2016.
The process began with the city soliciting interest from local and regional artists who hadn’t previously performed at Starlight. About 30 performers submitted their work and the list was narrowed to 12 finalists by a panel of community judges. Each finalist submitted a sample music video that was added to the Starlight website. Fans were then allowed to vote for their favorite each day for about 30 days from May to early June. A total of 21,890 votes were cast, and the three artists with the most votes won the opportunity to play on July 2.
Here are the final vote tallies:

The top three artists will receive one hour of stage time and complimentary advertising and promotion for the final Starlight concert. The top vote getter, Kaitlin Lindley, will also receive a $450 artist development package from Revive 45.
Admission is free and all concerts begin at 7 p.m. Guests may bring refreshments, but glass containers are not allowed. Coolers must be 48 quarts or smaller. Concessions will be available for purchase.
Notable Starlight performers through the years include Jerry Jeff Walker, Bruce Robison, Kelly Willis, Michael Martin Murphey, Big Otis, Eddy Raven, Cowboy Mouth, Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes, Hotel California, Bellamy Brothers, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Earl Thomas Conley, Aaron Watson, Eddie Money, Foghat, and Roger Creager.
