Upbeat summer programs can help fulfill your elusive fitness goals

Do you have an off-and-on relationship with fitness? The College Station Parks & Recreation Department can help you stay on course with upbeat exercise programs and opportunities at the Lincoln Recreation Center.

Our fitness classes are ideal for keeping your workouts fun, challenging, and effective while adding a social element that keeps you coming back. Meanwhile, the Lincoln Recreation Center’s fitness center is equipped with cardio machines, a weight-training circuit, single-station machines, and a complete range of free-weight equipment.

During open gym hours, you can work on your pickleball, basketball, or volleyball skills, meet friends, or simply be active. You must be at least 18 years old to participate in the classes and take advantage of the fitness center and open gym.

Cardio Fitness

Groove to hits you know and love for an easy-to-follow cardio dance workout. A dance session provides a good cardio workout and burns calories. The class builds cardio fitness, improves strength, alleviates stress, eases depression, and unleashes a plethora of exercise endorphins. The classes are from 6:30-7:15 p.m. on Wednesdays and 10-10:45 a.m. on Saturdays through July 28. The cost is $5 per class, and you must be at least 16 years old.

Zumba

Through dance moves and cardiovascular exercises set to upbeat Latin music, students can expect to have fun doing Zumba®, an easy-to-learn, popular fitness program inspired by Latin dance. The classes are from 5:45-6:30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays from June 14-July 15. The cost is $25 per person, and you must be at least 16 years old.

Fitness Center & Open Gym

You must have a membership to use the fitness center and participate in open gym. The monthly cost is $15 for residents and $18 for non-residents. A daily option is also available. Purchase your pass on-site at the Lincoln Recreation Center or by calling 979-764-3779.

The fitness center is open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. from Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday. Open gym hours are designated by sport, and courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
