Lifeguard shortage causes temporarily adjusted hours at Cindy Hallaran Pool in early June

UPDATE (June 23): Cindy Hallaran Pool is fully staffed with lifeguards and resumes weekday hours on Monday, June 27. From June 25-Aug. 15, the hours of operation are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on weekdays and from noon-7 p.m. on weekends. The pool is closed July 4.

A lifeguard shortage has led the Parks and Recreation Department to temporarily modify the public swim schedule for Cindy Hallaran Pool, which was scheduled to open on May 31 but will now be closed on weekdays until June 13. The change won’t impact programs or rentals.

From June 4-12, the pool will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from noon-7 p.m.

Adamson Lagoon will open on Memorial Day Weekend as planned with regular operating hours. Cindy Hallaran passes will be honored at Adamson during the modified schedule. Adamson is $6 per person, and Hallaran is $3. Children 2 and under are free.

The modified hours allow aquatics staff to host three additional lifeguard training classes with the hope of onboarding enough staff to return to regular hours on June 13. We won’t compromise safety to open a pool.

Looking for a Fun Summer Job?

We’re hiring lifeguards for our pools and instructors for swim lessons. Pay starts at $12 an hour, and you must be at least 16 years old. If you’re not certified, American Red Cross certification programs are available. If you’re hired, the cost of your certification is covered or reimbursed.

Swim Attire Policy

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, please follow our Swim Attire Policy. Improper attire can contaminate the pool, colored material not made for swimming can bleed into the pool, and cotton fibers can clog filters, cloud the water, and create chemical imbalances.

And don’t forget – the free splash pads at the Fun for All Playground and W.A. Tarrow Park are open daily from 8 a.m.-9 p.m.
