Transcript
Grace Hallowell:
Good morning everyone. My name is Grace Hallowell with the City of College Station, and I am here with David Simmons from the College Station Police Department. Good morning, David.
David Simmons:
Good morning. How are you?
Grace Hallowell:
I’m doing well. So we are here to talk about some exciting Christmas things today. Breakfast with Blue Santa is happening. Can you tell us a little bit about that event?
David Simmons:
Yeah, it’s December 3rd from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. It’s going to be at the College Station Police Department. We are inviting everybody. We’ll have Blue Santa, not in his normal red costume, but he’s going to be in a blue costume, and he’s going to be giving out presents. You get to talk to him and things like that.
Grace Hallowell:
Got you. So are there photo opportunities as well?
David Simmons:
Absolutely. Yes. We will have photo opportunities and games and various different things like that too.
Grace Hallowell:
Perfect. How long has this event been going on? Is it a new event, or is it something that you guys have done in the past?
David Simmons:
Right. This is our second annual Blue Santa. It’s breakfast with Blue Santa, so you’ll get to come and get a donut, milk, juice, things like that. Hopefully, we’ll have some coffee for your parents out there. But it’s our second breakfast with Blue Santa. We have done other things with Blue Santa in the past, but this is going to be geared towards people being invited to come to the College Station Police Department and actually get to see our facilities and things like that.
Grace Hallowell:
Perfect. Yeah, that’s an important thing to see, the police station. I know I didn’t have that opportunity as a kid, but I would’ve loved something like that.
David Simmons:
Absolutely.
Grace Hallowell:
Is there a cost to this event, or is it free?
David Simmons:
Nope. It is completely free.
Grace Hallowell:
Free, that’s always good.
David Simmons:
Completely free. Yep.
Grace Hallowell:
Where can people find out more about this event if they have questions?
David Simmons:
Absolutely. So you can go to the city’s page, City of College Station webpage. They should have something posted as well as you can go to our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram @CSTX Police. We’ll have that event posted. Especially on Facebook, where we have the event posted, you can go and you can get all of the details. You can click, “Hey, we’re coming,” and that way, we get a general idea about who all’s coming.
Grace Hallowell:
Perfect. And is there anything else anybody needs to know about this event or any other events you guys are doing in the future?
David Simmons:
Just stay tuned to our social media. We are trying to amp up our presence in the community, having different events and things like that. So if you follow us, then just like I said, stay tuned to that. Hopefully, within the next week until December 3rd, we’ll have some more updates on what is actually going to be provided at Blue Santa. It’s not just going to be just donuts and hanging out with Santa. There’s going to be some other things too.
Grace Hallowell:
Awesome. Yeah, I know as a kid I was a little fearful of meeting Santa in person, but if breakfast was on the table, I definitely would’ve been more inclined to do so.
David Simmons:
Absolutely. Absolutely.
Grace Hallowell:
All righty, anything else?
David Simmons:
Nope, I think that’s it.
Grace Hallowell:
All right. Well thank you, David. And that’s Stuff You Don’t Usually See.
