Grace Hallowell:

Hello, everyone. My name is Grace Hallowell with the City of College Station. And today, I’m back again with Aubrey Nettles from our tourism division. Hello, Aubrey.

Aubrey Nettles:

Hey, Grace. How are you?

Grace Hallowell:

I am doing well. So, we are here to talk about more Christmas and College Station.

Aubrey Nettles:

Yes. We are very, very much having a great time enjoying Christmas and College Station. We just can’t get enough Christmas. And as we get closer to Christmas, everyone has been hurrying to get their Christmas shopping done, and we have a great event to talk about when it comes to Christmas shopping, and some other events happening this weekend as well.

Grace Hallowell:

Perfect. Yeah. I know there’s still a few last-minute things that I’m looking for, so I’m excited to hear what’s going on.

Aubrey Nettles:

Yes. Absolutely. So, it starts on Thursday. We have a Christmas movie event at Century Square. It’s called Century Square Cinema Holiday Edition. At 7:00 PM, they’re going to be showing the Grinch, the 2018 version. It’s my favorite.

Grace Hallowell:

I haven’t seen it yet. I’ve only seen the original and the Jim Carey one.

Aubrey Nettles:

Okay. This one’s a great one. It’s my son’s favorite too.

Grace Hallowell:

Perfect.

Aubrey Nettles:

So, it’s a great event. They have it at Century Square, nice relaxing. And while you’re there, you can eat dinner at Hopdoddy or Sweet Paris. They have so many great options. And there’s retail right at your fingertips as well to do some Christmas shopping too.

Grace Hallowell:

Yeah. It sounds like a really fun, cozy evening.

Aubrey Nettles:

Yes, absolutely. So, definitely, check that out if you’re in town. And then on Saturday there is an event at Cavalry Court. It’s called, Santa’s Cavalry Vacation from 5:30 to 7:30. And they’re going to have an igloo style popup with great decorations, cookies, cider, and hot chocolate. And best of all, Santa and his reindeer are going to be making an appearance. I don’t know about you, but I have never seen a real reindeer in person. And they will, in fact, be there on Saturday.

Grace Hallowell:

I have. And my maiden name is Donner, so, I guess, I’m very familiar with reindeer. So, this is exciting for me.

Aubrey Nettles:

Okay. Well, I feel you absolutely need to go.

Grace Hallowell:

Yes, absolutely.

Aubrey Nettles:

Get your picture taken with another Donner.

Grace Hallowell:

Yes.

Aubrey Nettles:

And I think my son will force us to go there once he hears that a reindeer is going to be in tow.

Grace Hallowell:

Yeah. It’s a very magical experience to see one in real life. They’re very majestic creatures.

Aubrey Nettles:

Yes. And then an event that we’re really excited about on Sunday, also at Century Square, that is a happening place this weekend is the Holiday Artisan Market at Century Square from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We have been working with a wide variety of vendors that will be selling different goods. There’ll be live music, and while you’re there, absolutely, enjoy lunch from one of the great restaurants at Century Square, like Blaze Pizza or Porters or you could check out MESS Waffles. There’s so many to choose from. So, that event every year is one of the great Christmas events that we host at Century Square and with Century Square. And I always tell myself that that is where I’m going to finish up my holiday shopping.

Grace Hallowell:

Yes. I am really looking forward to that one to get some last-minute gifts for, maybe, for me, for other people. But, definitely, looking forward to checking it out.

Aubrey Nettles:

I’m so glad you say that. I feel like I’m so good at holiday shopping for myself. It’s incredible.

Grace Hallowell:

Yeah. I mean, you need to treat yourself every once in a while.

Aubrey Nettles:

Treat yourself. Absolutely. Yes. And let me… Don’t want to forget to mention that College Station has their very own Christmas ornament.

Grace Hallowell:

Yay.

Aubrey Nettles:

And it is on sale at Aggieland Outfitters now. And it’ll also be on sale on Sunday at the Holiday Artisan Market.

Grace Hallowell:

Perfect.

Aubrey Nettles:

It’s 24.99. So, I think this is a great gift for people who live in College Station, for people who love visiting College Station, for people who hold College Station dear and nearing their heart. And they can have this on their Christmas tree, and it just signifies College Station as a special place and a place that you and I both love. And it has the College Station City Hall, the Water Tower, of course, the train station signifying the College Station was named after.

Grace Hallowell:

Absolutely.

Aubrey Nettles:

And then Bluebonnet. So, I think this is a beautiful gift and would look great on anyone’s Christmas tree this holiday season.

Grace Hallowell:

Yeah. One of my favorite memories as a kid was looking at all of the ornaments that my grandparents had collected over the years on the tree. And this is such a special one to have to signify your love for College Station or what memories you have here. So, that’s a great gift option as well.

Aubrey Nettles:

Yes. I know, no matter where life takes me, I will always hold College Station close to my heart.

Grace Hallowell:

Absolutely.

Aubrey Nettles:

And I know so many other aggies and people who have experienced College Station that feel the same way and said, “This is just a great way to keep it.” Keep College Station with you wherever you go.

Grace Hallowell:

Yeah, absolutely. So, where can everybody find out more about these events?

Aubrey Nettles:

Yes. So, all of our events are on christmasincs.com. And, of course, for anyone who hasn’t yet this holiday season, Santa’s Wonderland is a must see. We went a few weeks ago, we saw Santa, we ate funnel cakes, we threw snowballs. It was glorious. So, if you haven’t checked out Santa’s wonderland yet, make sure you do it. And to make your life easier, park at Post Oak Mall and take the free shuttle to and from Santa’s Wonderland. It’s so easy and it’s free.

Grace Hallowell:

Yeah. It makes it so much easier than messing with parking, and you can come and go and perfect. Perfect option.

Aubrey Nettles:

Yes. And if you haven’t yet, make sure that you follow us on our social media channels, it’s visitcstx. We post all of our events there. And you can be up-to-date with all of the great things happening in College Station.

Grace Hallowell:

Well, perfect. Is there anything else you can tell us, Aubrey?

Aubrey Nettles:

That’s about it for Christmas, and we’ll be starting the new year and bringing that in. And I’m sure I’ll be seeing you then.

Grace Hallowell:

All right. Well, thank you so much.

Aubrey Nettles:

Absolutely.

Grace Hallowell:

And that’s stuff you don’t usually see.

Speaker 3:

Well, no, actually it doesn’t matter.

Grace Hallowell:

Okay. Oh, yeah. That’s right.
