Your voice matters as the City of College Station envisions the ideal recreation center for you and your family – or whether our community even needs one.

The city’s Recreation Center Feasibility Study will help determine what could and should happen based on residents’ preferences. Since community input is critical for a complete and accurate evaluation, we would appreciate your participation in collaboration with fellow residents.

The community engagement effort began last month with seven focus group meetings, and two open house meetings at College Station City Hall. In addition to public feedback, the study’s initial phase involves a comprehensive needs assessment and market analysis.

Your valuable contribution is indispensable in shaping the decision-making process and our community’s future recreational landscape. Let your imagination run wild in expressing your detailed opinions, ideas, suggestions, and dreams.

The feasibility study’s primary goal is to determine whether residents genuinely desire a dedicated recreation center and how the facility’s design would align with the community’s priorities. Every resident can directly impact the potential development of a place that heightens our collective well-being and quality of life.

What amenities should be incorporated into a recreation center? The answers may range from indoor facilities such as gymnasiums, fitness studios, and multipurpose rooms to outdoor spaces such as sports courts, walking trails, and green areas. We especially want your thoughts about programs offering vibrant and enriching experiences.

We welcome your suggestions for specific features that would enhance the overall utility of a community recreation center. We’re committed to hearing diverse perspectives and encourage residents of all ages, backgrounds, and interests to participate.

In the interest of transparency, we’ll keep you informed every step of the way. Regular updates on the study’s progress and community input will be shared on the website.
