Here are five items to watch:
1. City Employee of the Year
At 3 p.m. before the council meeting, the council will recognize the city’s 2023 Employee of the Year, nominees, and the Impact and Leadership Award recipients. A short reception will follow the ceremony.
2. Greens Prairie Speed Limit
As a part of the consent agenda, the council will consider establishing a speed limit of 40 mph on Greens Prairie Road between Arrington Drive and Dalton Drive.
3. Amazon Prime Air Update
The council will hear an update from Amazon on its Prime Air drone delivery operations. In December 2022, College Station became one of just two locations in the nation with the Prime Air drone delivery service.
Last fall, Amazon partnered with Amazon Pharmacy to begin delivering prescriptions by drone.
4. Wellborn Grocery Rezoning
After a public hearing, the council will consider a request to change the zoning to Planned Development District with a base zoning of Wellborn Commercial for the Wellborn Grocery Store on about two acres along FM 2154. The proposed concept plan is split into two phases and shows the first phase’s general building and parking layout.
The plan increases the allowable building square footage and provides a pedestrian path, modified sign lighting, and architectural elements to maintain the area’s rural character. An amendment will be required for the second phase.
5. Business Park Real Estate Contract
The council will consider a $3.37 million contract to sell nearly 12 acres in the College Station Business Center near Gateway Boulevard and Lakeway Drive to HFLPI-College Station for a warehouse and office.
