Welcome to our live blog from the College Station City Council meeting on Thursday, April 11. It’s not the official minutes.

6:31 p.m.

The meeting has started. The council took no action after its executive session.

6:57 p.m.

Hear Visitors

Nine people spoke during Hear Visitors, when citizens may address the council on any item that does not appear on the posted agenda.

  • Sherry Frisk of the Historic Preservation Committee gave an update about a new historical marker at City Hall.
  • Peter Bastion expressed concerns about the Amazon drone facility near his neighborhood.
  • Luke Morrison introduced Campbell Gattis as his successor as the Texas A&M Student Senate’s community relations chair. She told the council she’s looking forward to working with the city on student-related issues.
  • Corbitt Armstrong, Marcus Glass, Andrew Applewhite, Ben Crockett, and Ava Blackburn asked the council to delay the enforcement of the no-more-than-four ordinance.

7:01 p.m.

Consent Agenda

The council voted unanimously to approve these consent agenda items:

  • A deductive $106,017.72 change order with Johnson & Pace for designing the Fleet Fuel System Rehabilitation Project.
  • A contract with Arkitex Studio to design an ancillary electrical building on Graham Road.

The council pulled this consent item for a separate vote:

  • The council voted 6-0 to approve a $864,440 contract with Elliot Construction for Phase I of rehabilitating a well field collection line near the Sandy Point Pump Station. Councilwoman Elizabeth Cunha abstained from the vote.

7:17 p.m.

Drought Contingency/Water Conservation Plans

The council reviewed proposed updates to the city’s Drought Contingency and Water Conservation Plans. The changes help reduce water demand and address system strains during emergencies or periods of high demand.

7:22 p.m.

CSPD Annual Contact Report

The council reviewed the College Station Police Department’s Annual Contact Report. The study indicates that the department complies with state law and employs best practices.

7:28 p.m.

Lincoln Avenue Rehabilitation

The council unanimously approved a $9.36 million contract with Larry Young Paving to rehabilitate Lincoln Avenue from Texas Avenue to University Drive. The existing asphalt road will be replaced with concrete pavement, and a shared-use path will be constructed on both sides of the roadway.

7:34 p.m.

Carters Creek WWTP

The council unanimously approved a $10.98 million contract with Dudley Construction for the Carters Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant diversion lift station and force main. The project will divert some existing flow to the expanded Lick Creek WWTP.

7:43 p.m.

Mayor Nichols adjourned the meeting after the council discussed its calendar, items of community interest, committee and board reports, and future agenda items.

The council meets again on Thursday, April 25.
