5 things to watch at Thursday's City Council meeting

The College Station City Council meets at City Hall after 6 p.m. on Thursday. The meeting will be streamed live on Optimum Channel 19 and at cstx.gov/cstv19.

To address the council about any item on the workshop or regular agenda, register with the city secretary by 4 p.m. or call 979-764-3500 and provide your name and phone number. Written comments will be provided to the council members.

Here are five items to watch:

1. Milliff/Redmond Drainage Improvements

As part of the consent agenda, the council will consider a $1.29 million contract with Brazos Paving for drainage improvements at Milliff Road and Redmond Drive, plus the city's contingency of $128,973 for a total appropriation of $1.42 million.

2. Response to FAA Regarding Drones

The council will discuss the city's official response to the Federal Aviation Administration's request for public comments regarding Amazon Prime Air drone delivery operations in College Station. The closing date for comments was originally Friday but has been extended to July 12.

3. Morgans Lane Land Use

After a public hearing, the council will consider a request to change the land use from Urban Residential to General Commercial for about 3 acres at 116 and 120 Morgans Lane. The applicant plans to develop offices and self-storage.

4. Morgans Lane Rezoning

After a public hearing, the council will consider a request to change the zoning from General Suburban to General Commercial/Natural Areas Protected for about 6 acres at 110, 116, and 120 Morgans Lane. The applicant plans to create retail sales and service opportunities.

5. McCulloch Water/Wastewater Rehab

The council will consider a $7.78 million contract with General Contractor, Inc., for rehabilitating water and wastewater lines in the McCulloch neighborhood, plus the city's contingency of $777,749 for a total appropriation of $8.56 million.
