Welcome to our live blog from the College Station City Council meeting on Thursday, March 13. It’s not the official minutes.

6:00 p.m.
The meeting has started. The council took no action after its executive session.
Mayor John Nichols is absent tonight, and Mayor Pro Tem Mark Smith is presiding. Councilwoman Melissa McIlhaney, and Councilman Scott Shafer are participating remotely.
6:12 p.m.
B-CS Library System’s 70th Anniversary
Mayor Pro Tem Mark Smith presented a proclamation recognizing the Bryan+College Station Public Library System‘s 70th anniversary.Â
The system was recently awarded an Achievement of Library Excellence Award for the second consecutive year. Of the 542 public libraries in Texas, fewer than 20% receive the recognition, putting the local library system in the top tier of the state’s public libraries.

Hear Visitors
Two people spoke during Hear Visitors, when citizens may address the council on any item not on the posted agenda.
- Shelby Behm spoke about the lack of progress in the Midtown development.
- Fred Dupriest, speaking on behalf of a group of five, spoke about the City’s enforcement of then over occupancy ordinance.
6:32 p.m.
Consent Agenda
The council voted unanimously to approve the entire consent agenda:
- An amendment to a contract with LULAC Oak Hill to revise interest language and the schedule of values and reduce the contract by $392,979.
- An amendment to the Fiscal and Budgetary Policy Statements adding a cost and lifespan threshold for Right to Use assets and updating the cost threshold for fixed assets.
- A $372,532 contract with Avinext for door badge access replacement.

Annual Audit, Financial Reports
The council reviewed the annual audit reports and Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30.
6:58 p.m.
Church Street Easement
The unanimously approved the abandonment of an 872-square-foot sidewalk easement on the south side of Church Avenue near the Boyett Street intersection. The applicant will dedicate a public access easement along the northwest property line to provide access to a new sidewalk.
7:01 p.m.
Mayor Pro Tem Smith adjourned the meeting after the council discussed its calendar, items of community interest, committee and board reports, and future agenda items.
The council meets again on Thursday, March 27.
