By Bobbie Lehrmann, Assistant Director of Public Communications
Whether it’s a quick chat with a neighbor or a citywide update shared online, communication connects us, builds trust, and strengthens our community. World Communication Week, observed each year during the first week of November, emphasizes the crucial importance of communication in our everyday lives.
At the City of College Station, we believe open communication is the foundation of good government. Our Public Communications team works diligently to ensure residents have clear, convenient access to accurate, timely, and transparent information about what’s happening across our city.

Speak Up and Be Heard
Share your thoughts and concerns with city leaders by speaking at a City Council meeting. Whether it’s about a community project, a neighborhood concern, or offering a suggestion, these meetings provide an opportunity to be heard in person or online.
Explore and Engage
Transparency means giving residents easy ways to see what’s happening and share their input. That’s why we’ve launched tools like our interactive capital projects map, which lets you explore city projects — including those approved in the 2022 bond election — by location, phase, and estimated completion date.
During budget season each summer, you can get involved through our online budgeting tool, which allows you to rank funding priorities and share feedback directly with staff and City Council.
You can also:
- Browse public data through our open data portal.
- View meeting agendas and minutes.
- Explore budget documents and annual reports.
We’re Always Listening
Do you have a question or comment?
- Email the Public Communications team at pubcomm@cstx.gov.
- Find contact info for other departments in our City directory.
- Participate in available surveys and engagement opportunities to share your thoughts on projects, programs, and services.
Beyond the screen, our commitment to connection continues in person. From neighborhood meetings and open houses to outreach booths at city events, we’re always listening, answering questions, and ensuring residents have the information they need.
At its core, communication is about connection, and we’re proud to offer so many ways for residents to stay informed, engaged and involved. As we celebrate World Communication Week, we’re reminded that listening, learning and sharing all play a role in building a stronger, more transparent College Station.
When residents have access to clear, accurate information — and the ability to provide input — everyone benefits, because an informed and engaged community is an empowered one.
