New playgrounds are coming to Bee Creek and W.A. Tarrow parks after the College Station City Council recently approved nearly $440,000 to replace the heavily used and worn-out equipment.
Work is expected to start in late April and be completed by the end of May, weather permitting. Here is an overview of what to expect (click photos to enlarge):
Bee Creek Park, 1900 Anderson St.
The new playgrounds – one for ages 2-5 and the other for ages 5-12 – feature multiple levels, spinners, climbers, a spiral slide, a bee panel, an athletic arch and a spin-post activity. The structures will have fall zones covered in bonded rubber.
The existing shade cover and swings will remain.

W.A Tarrow Park, 107 Holleman Drive
The new playground, designed for ages 5-12, features multiple levels and slides, a serenity spot, climbers, a piston panel and a niche capsule. The swing set will include two belt swings, one accessible swing and one infant swing. The playground will have fall zones covered in bonded rubber.
The natural canopy from nearby trees provides shade.
