Here are five items to watch:
1. Thomas Park
The Council will consider a Construction Manager-at-Risk contract with the Crain Group for the Thomas Park and surrounding streets project, not to exceed the remaining project budget of $13.87 million. The project combines the 2023 Mabel Clare Thomas Park redevelopment bond project, the James Parkway/Puryear Drive Rehabilitation (from Francis Drive to Kyle Avenue), and the Francis Drive Phase III Improvement (from Walton Drive to Texas Avenue) into a single project.
2. Southwest Parkway Drainage
The Council will consider a $567,622 construction contract with Larry Young Paving for the Southwest Parkway Drainage Project. The City’s contingency of $96,500 makes the total appropriation $664,122. The project includes replacing about 500 feet of storm sewer, a culvert crossing, a potential 12-inch waterline relocation, pavement repair, and traffic control.
3. Public Works Facility
The Council will discuss options for the City’s Public Works facility project. The existing facility on King Cole Road was constructed in 1978.
4. Recreation Center
The Council will discuss a potential community recreation center, including a review of the recent feasibility study, feedback from the steering committee, and possible next steps.
5. Pavilion Extension Removal
After a public hearing, the council will consider removing from the Comprehensive Plan the future extension of Pavilion Avenue between Sebesta Road and State Highway 6 South, including associated future bike lanes and sidewalks.
