Get in summer shape fast with an Aqua Fitness pass

Summer is almost here, and whether you like to head to the pool or beach, it’s time to suit up. What better way to get in shape and feel great in your swimsuit than to work out in it?

Take a break from the gym and dive into the City of College Station’s Aqua Fitness classes to build cardio, strength, and resistance in a cool and relaxing atmosphere. It’s easy on the joints while providing a tremendous workout, regardless of your fitness level.

The Parks & Recreation Department offers a variety of aqua fitness classes for ages 15 and up at Cindy Hallaran Pool, a 25-yard, zero-depth swimming pool with a beach entry that gently slopes to a depth of four feet. Classes begin Tuesday and run through Aug. 16.

Eager to try one of our aqua fitness classes but not sure where to begin?

It all starts with getting an Aqua Fitness pass, which is good for water fitness, aqua barre, and aqua boot camp. You can sample a drop-in pass for $3 a class and once you’re hooked, buy an unlimited pass for $100.

Passes can be purchased at the Cindy Hallaran Pool or online at rectrac.cstx.gov.

Aqua Fitness Classes

Water Fitness, Weekdays, 9-10 a.m.

These classes provide an enjoyable and effective exercise that increases cardiopulmonary capacity, strength, and flexibility. Physically fit, pre-natal, post-natal, post-operative, those with arthritis, those with muscle injuries, or sedentary individuals are invited to join.

Aqua Barre, Tuesdays, 7:30-8:30 a.m.

The hottest trend in group exercise goes aquatic with a moderate-intensity workout that uses the buoyancy and resistance of water to enhance exercises designed to build strength, promote cardiovascular fitness, and increase flexibility. Participants use noodles and the pool wall in place of the traditional ballet barre.

Aqua Bootcamp, Thursdays, 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Take your fitness to the next level with a vigorous workout that brings intensity without the impact with a combination of high-intensity interval training, steady-state cardio, and resistance exercises.

Have a fresh start to fitness this fall

Fall is full of personal favorites – crisp weather, delicious food, football weekends, and pumpkin everything. Unfortunately, those great things can also be a recipe for falling off the fitness wagon.

The College Station Parks & Recreation Department can help you stay on course with a variety of exercise programs and opportunities at the newly renovated and expanded Lincoln Recreation Center.

Our fitness classes are the perfect way to keep your workouts fun, challenging and effective while adding a social element that keeps you coming back. The Lincoln Recreation Center also offers a fitness center equipped with cardio machines, a weight-training circuit, single-station machines and a complete range of free-weight equipment.

During open gym hours, you can work on your basketball skills, meet friends and simply be active. You must be at least 18 years old to participate in the classes or take advantage of the fitness center or open gym.

Get Jiggy With It Body Jam

The upbeat, fast-paced workout will get your heart pumping and your body moving through a combination of dance moves and strength exercises. The classes are from 7:30-8:30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursday from Oct. 1-Nov. 5. The cost is $50 for the season or $8 per class.

Werk’ It Wednesday Beginners

The class is geared toward beginners but effective for all levels to build endurance while improving strength through high-intensity interval training and light weightlifting. The classes are from 7:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays from Oct. 3-Nov. 7. The cost is $30 for the season or $8 per class. Registration is required.

Saturday Morning Slay Boot Camp

The boot camp style workout combines traditional bodyweight exercises with interval and strength training to increase lean muscle mass and improve cardiovascular endurance, coordination and balance. The classes will be from 9-10 a.m. on Saturdays from Oct. 6-Nov. 3. The cost is $30 for the season or $8 per class.

Fitness Center & Open Gym

You must have a membership for open gym and to use the fitness center. The cost is $10 a month or $3 per day. The fitness center is open from 9 a.m.-8:30 p.m. from Monday-Thursday and from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday.

Open Gym is from 6:30-9 p.m. on Tuesdays, with courts available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call us to find out about additional availability.
