The council voted 5-2 to authorize staff to move forward with the rezoning of 65 acres of city-owned property on Rock Prairie Road near Lick Creek Park, with the eventual goal of selling the property. Council members Blanche Brick and Dave Ruesink voted against the motion.
In July, the council directed staff to explore the sale of a number of city-owned properties. Staff believes the land near Lick Creek Park is well-positioned for the development of single-family homes by a private developer. Staff also recommends that a natural buffer be retained between this property and Lick Creek Park.
