Valuable tip by water chick opens resident’s eyes

Jennifer Nations, the City of College Station’s popular water resource coordinator  — who proudly refers to herself as the “water chick” — got a nice thank you call from a resident this morning.
In the October issue of the Inside College Station newsletter, which is mailed with your utility bill, Jennifer wrote a water-saving tip about the seasonal adjustment feature that’s part of most home irrigation systems.

The caller told Jennifer that’s he’s had his system for 20 years and never knew the purpose of the seasonal  adjustment  dial  on his controller until he read her tip. He immediately dialed back his irrigation settings to 70 percent, which will probably save him a substantial amount of cash in the next few months.

The newsletter is included in your utility bill every other month. If you receive your bill electronically –and we encourage you to sign up for this service – you can click here to see past issues of Inside College Station.
