Halloween on 19’s classic scary movies give a whole new meaning to government “ax-cess”

By Colin Killian, Public Communications Manager

In October 2009, the two videographers who handled video production and programming for the city’s Channel 19 (Suddenlink) suggested it might be fun to show old, cheesy movies during Halloween.

The idea was great because the movies would draw more eyeballs to a channel anchored by city council and planning and zoning commission meetings, with additional content offering helpful information to our residents.

Thankfully, the Halloween tradition continues.

From Friday through Monday, horror genre legends Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney, and Vincent Price contribute to Halloween on 19: Government “Ax-cess. Two dozen classic and vintage films — silver-screen features from 1922 to 1964 — will be featured, including Nosferatu (1922), Phantom of the Opera (1925), Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923), and Little Shop of Horrors (1960).

You can find the full schedule of movies and times at cstx.gov/boo.

We hope you enjoy Halloween on 19: Government “Ax-cess” streamed live at cstx.gov/cstv19 or on Suddenlink Channel 19.

Happy Halloween!
