By Samantha Holland, Tourism Supervisor
Have you wondered why our community still seems packed with people when most college students are gone for the summer?
The reason is simple – College Station is a sports tourism hotbed, and summertime is our busiest season!
Tournament organizers know all about our fantastic facilities and next-level hospitality. And it doesn’t hurt that College Station’s central location provides easy access for sports teams from Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and elsewhere.
The Parks & Recreation Department will host 10 tournaments from May 27-Aug. 27, including five state championships in girls fastpitch softball, boys and girls youth soccer, and 7-on-7 football. We expect those events to attract about 38,000 visitors to our hotels, restaurants, and stores.
Here’s a look at upcoming tournaments at city-owned facilities:
2023 Summer Sports Schedule
May 27-29 | STYSA State Cup |
June 2-4 | Impact Gold Summer Warm-Up |
June 3-4 | Texas 7v7 Youth State Championship |
June 9-11 | The 11th Annual Texas State Championships |
June 16-18 | The 11th Annual Southwest Regional Showcase |
June 22-24 | 7-on-7 State Championship |
June 24-25 | Tournament of Champions |
July 5-9 | Aggieland Classic |
July 21-23 | USSSA Slow-Pitch Softball State Tournament |
Aug. 26-27 | Aggieland Friendship Cup |
Be sure to give these athletes a warm welcome and a “howdy” when you see them around town!
