Have the Paris Olympic Games inspired you to get physically active? If you’re looking for something fun to do with your friends or an opportunity to meet new people, the City of College Station’s fall lineup of athletics programs has what you need.
The Parks and Recreation Department offers ample recreational opportunities for people of all ages. For kids, participating in sports is a fantastic way to gain confidence, express themselves, and learn healthy physical and mental habits. For adults, it can fulfill competitive desires and help you stay in shape while making new friends.
Our fall sports lineup features programs for all athletes, regardless of age or skill level – and you don’t have to live in College Station. Registration is already underway for many of our programs.

Youth Programs
Flag Football (ages 6-11)
Sept. 2-Nov. 21
Register by Aug. 30
Flag football provides a fun and exciting opportunity for continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork. Teams draft players, and players gain experience on offense and defense. We also need volunteer coaches!
Fundamental Field Hockey (ages 5-15)
Sept. 4-Oct. 16
Register by Aug. 30
FUNdamental Field Hockey introduces the game by engaging participants in core concepts, rules, skills, and strategy. A former college player with high school and college-level coaching experience teaches the eight-week program. Equipment is provided, cleats and shin guards are recommended, and mouth guards are required.
Speed and Agility Training (ages 5-13)
Sept. 3-Oct. 22
Register by Sept. 3
Participants develop athleticism through speed and agility training in a positive environment. Coaches emphasize conditioning, footwork, strength, and forming positive attitudes.
Junior Beginner Tennis (ages 5-16)
Week of Sept. 23-Week of Oct. 28
Register by Sept. 27
The junior beginner level is a fun introduction to tennis. Beginners learn the basics of the forehand, backhand, serve, and volley in a fast-paced, interactive environment. The last session is a game night with a chance to win prizes.
Junior Intermediate Tennis (ages 9-16)
Week of Sept. 23-Week of Oct. 28
Register by Sept. 27
The intermediate program is for players with previous instruction from a tennis professional on basic tennis strokes. Players focus on static and live-ball drills for singles and doubles. The last session is a game night with a chance to win prizes.
Winter Basketball (ages 6-13)
Dec. 2-March 5
Register by Dec. 2
Participants learn basic basketball skills, teamwork, and training for the next level. After a pre-draft workout, they are drafted to a team and receive a jersey. The pre-draft workout for Monday/Wednesday participants is on Dec. 2, and the workout for Tuesday/Thursday participants is on Dec. 3.
The season begins with two weeks of practice in December, with no practices scheduled from Dec. 16-Jan. 5. We also need volunteer coaches!
Youth and Adult Programs
High-Performance Tennis Academy (ages 14+)
Sept. 26-Oct. 31
Register by Sept. 27
The academy is for high school and adult players interested in tournaments or leagues who have previously received instruction from a tennis professional on basic tennis strokes. Each session enhances technical, strategic, and physical capabilities through live-ball drills, match play, and conditioning.
Adult Programs
Softball League (ages 18+)
Week of Sept. 2-Week of Nov. 18
Register by Aug. 16; late registration by Aug. 23
Men’s and coed divisions are offered in the fall. Nights of play are determined by registered division. Coed teams consist of at least four females and six males with a maximum roster of 20 players.
Kickball League (ages 18+)
Sept. 4-Nov. 20
Register by Aug. 16; late registration by Aug. 23
Teams have 10-20 players with a minimum roster of four females and six males. The league uses an 8½-inch kickball.
Volleyball League (ages 18+)
Week of Sept. 2-Week of Nov. 18
Register by Aug. 16; late registration by Aug. 23
Coed volleyball divisions are offered in the fall. Teams may choose to play on Tuesday or Thursday nights. No more than three men or four women can be on the court per team. Teams are assigned a division based on the registration questionnaire and previous league performance.
Ultimate Frisbee League (ages 18+)
Sept. 24-Nov. 5
Register by Sept. 17
BCS Ultimate runs the coed league. Individual or team registration is available, and team rosters may include up to 12 players. Teams field five men and two women at a time. Each team plays two games per night, with the first game starting at 6:30 p.m. Games are played on a 70-by-40-yard field and follow USA Ultimate rules. Individuals participate in an evaluation night, followed by a draft.
Beginner Tennis (ages 16+)
Sept. 24-Week of Oct. 29
Register by Sept. 27
The fun, active introduction to tennis teaches basic tennis strokes, scoring, and strategy. Participants also engage in games throughout each session to increase their enjoyment.
Intermediate Tennis (ages 16+)
Sept. 25-Week of Oct. 30
Register by Sept. 27
The intermediate program is for players who have previously received basic tennis stroke instruction from a tennis professional. Players focus on static and live-ball drills, match play, and conditioning. Point simulation and strategy are emphasized.
Round-Robin Tennis League (ages 16+)
Sept. 22-Oct. 27
Register by Sept. 27
The league is for adults comfortable with match play and interested in competing in a lively social setting. Players are guaranteed a doubles set (six-game, no-ad scoring) and single set (six-game, no-ad scoring) each week in a round-robin format, allowing competitors to face new opponents constantly.
