Fall is always an exhilarating time in the Heart of Aggieland.

Tailgates and Aggie football dominate the headlines, but if you step away from the hustle and bustle of the campus, you’ll find a jam-packed schedule of special Parks and Recreation events for all ages.

Here’s what you can expect as the leaves change and the air gets cooler.

Movies in the Park

The popular Movies in the Park series returns to Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater with two feature presentations. Brave (2012) kicks things off on Friday, Sept. 27, followed by Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024) on Friday, Oct. 11. Gates open at 7 p.m. and the movies start at 8.

You’re welcome to bring snacks and treats, but please leave alcohol, glass containers, and coolers larger than 48 quarts at home.

Color Me Beautiful Paint Party

Experience a vibrant paint party in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month! The Color Me Beautiful Paint Party is Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 6-8 p.m. at the Lincoln Recreation Center. The inspiring event celebrates strength and beauty by offering a creative space for women 18 and older to express themselves through art. All skill levels are welcome, and supplies are provided.

Registration is required and costs $20.

Halloween Highlights

Celebrate spooky season with College Station Parks and Recreation! October is full of events that are all treats with no tricks:

  • Annual Fall Fest and Haunted House – Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Lincoln Rec Center
  • Haunted Hikes – Friday, Oct. 18, at Lick Creek Park (Ages 13+)
  • Trunk or Tree-t – Friday, Oct. 25, at the Wolf Pen Creek Festival Site

Rocking at the Creek

Are you looking to enjoy local music? Rock out at the Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater with local artists Jack Nelson, Southern Degenerates, and Drifters & Grifters on Saturday, Oct. 25. The free event is open to all ages, and you can bring blankets, coolers, and picnic baskets. Gates open at 5 p.m., with the music beginning at 6.

Park in the Dark

Create memories alongside friends and family with an overnight campout on Friday, Nov. 8, or Friday, Nov. 15 at the Lick Creek Nature Center. Choose your own adventure or join favorites such as a hot dog dinner, nature presentations, s’mores, and a night hike. Limited spots are available, and registration ends the Wednesday before each camp.

The cost is $8 per person, and children must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older.
