From Bingo Night to Yoga in the Park, the Parks and Recreation team has a jam-packed April calendar with programs and events for all ages at our beautiful facilities.


Friday, April 4: Lick Creek Park in the Dark

You don’t have to travel far to create fun memories with your friends and family. Choose your adventure or join us for favorites such as a hot dog dinner, storytelling, s’mores, and a night hike. We will even help you learn the basics of camping and discover the nocturnal creatures that call Lick Creek Park home.

The family-friendly event begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 7 a.m. Saturday. Campers must bring a tent, necessary supplies, snacks, and drinks. Electricity is unavailable, so please pack flashlights, tent lanterns, sleeping bags, insect repellents, and folding chairs.

Limited spots are available, and registration ends the Wednesday before camp. The cost is $8 per person. Children must be accompanied by an adult (18+), and pets aren’t allowed.

April 9, 16, 23: Food Truck Wednesdays

Are you having middle-of-the-week blues? Join us for Food Truck Wednesdays on April 9, April 16, and April 23 from 6-9 p.m. at the Wolf Pen Creek Park Festival Site. We’ll announce the food trucks on the city’s Facebook and X (Twitter) pages the Monday before each event.

Enjoy yard games and music while savoring a meal from local food trucks. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets, but alcohol, glass containers, and pets are prohibited.

Cash and credit cards are accepted. Free parking is available at the Meyer Senior and Community Center along Colgate Drive.

Friday, April 11: Senior Casino Day

Spend a fun Friday connecting with friends while playing thrilling casino games at the Lincoln Recreation Center. You may even win a prize!

Festivities are from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., and light refreshments will be served.

Saturday, April 12: BioBlitz

Learn about biodiversity and conservation while getting an up-close look at wildlife at the BioBlitz event on April 12 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Gary Halter Nature Center.

Saturday, April 12, 26: Yoga in the Park

Unwind, connect, and rejuvenate with Yoga in the Park at Wolf Pen Creek Park on April 12 and April 26. The events include all skill levels, from seasoned yogis to beginners. The classes begin at 8 a.m.

 Yoga mats are provided while supplies last, but feel free to bring your own. You should also bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Don’t miss this chance to enjoy the outdoors while easing stress!

Wednesday, April 16: Exploring History Luncheon

Enjoy lunch while learning about our community’s past at April’s Exploring History Luncheon on April 16 at 11:30 a.m. at the Larry J. Ringer Library. This month’s topic is about Brazos County’s public health emergency preparedness.  

Attendance is free, but lunch is $10 per person. Lunch reservations are required by Friday, April 11. You can reserve your lunch online, by calling 979-764-3486, or by visiting a park facility. Payment is required at registration.

Friday, April 18: Bingo Night

Test your luck, win prizes, and meet new people over a friendly game on Bingo Night on April 18 from 6-8 p.m. at the Southwood Community Center. This event is free, and registration is not required.

April 25-28: City Nature Challenge

From April 25-28, you can help document College Station’s plants and wildlife while competing against other communities in the City Nature Challenge. To participate, download the iNaturalist app and submit your photos.

Saturday, April 26: Learning to Fish

The free Learning to Fish class will be April 26 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Gary Halter Nature Center. The event introduces participants 6 years and older to fishing with fun, hands-on activities. 

Those over 17 must have a valid fishing license or day pass to fish. Educational materials, equipment, and bait are provided. 

Participants are encouraged to bring water, snacks, and lunch. You’ll be outside much of the time, so dress appropriately.

Saturday, April 26: Latin Dance Social

Put on your dancing shoes and get ready for a night of bachata and salsa dancing at the Laton Dance Social on April 16 from 7:30-10 p.m. at the Southwood Community Center.

Whether you’re an expert or need tips, our dancing host can help get your hips moving.
