5 things to watch at Thursday’s City Council meeting

The College Station City Council meets at City Hall after 6 p.m. on Thursday. The meeting will be streamed live on Optimum Channel 19 and at cstx.gov/cstv19.

You can participate online through Microsoft Teams by entering Meeting ID 287 987 474 175 and Passcode gZw5cS. You can also call 469-480-7460 and enter Conference Number 168 564 318#.

To address the Council about any item on the agenda, register with the city secretary by 4 p.m. or call 979-764-3500 and provide your name and phone number. Written comments will be provided to the Council members.

Here are five items to watch:

1. Strategic Plan Update

The Council will review changes to its annual Strategic Plan.

2. Existing Conditions Report 

The Council will review the 2024 Existing Conditions Report, a snapshot of local conditions from 2019-23. The report includes conditions and trends in the natural environment, demographics, economic development, land use, public facilities, and transportation. The report is a key component of the ongoing five-year update to the City’s Comprehensive Plan. >>>> Related Podcast

3. Single-Family Architectural Standards

The Council will discuss single-family architectural standards.

4. Southgate Village

The Council will discuss the gas outages at Southgate Village Apartments in late 2024.

5. BVR Agreement

The Council will hear the first reading of an ordinance approving a five-year, $7.87 million residential recycling collection franchise agreement and a general service agreement with BVR Waste and Recycling for collecting recyclables from single-family dwellings and City facilities.
