Few things are more annoying than opening your mailbox after a long day and finding junk mail or a long, tedious survey sent by a political party or group. Many of these surveys have no tangible benefit, and if you’re like me, you promptly file them in the nearest recycling bin.

The City of College Station’s 2025 Citizen Survey, which is being mailed this week to thousands of randomly selected addresses, is not one of those surveys.

The ETC Institute — a nationally recognized research and survey company — is independently administering the scientifically valid survey to assess City services and residents’ perceptions of College Station as a community. The survey will help City leaders determine the best and most efficient uses of your hard-earned tax dollars during the Fiscal Year 2026 budget process this summer.

With our high rate of growth expected to continue, it’s crucial for them to base decisions on the best available information. The survey data will help them responsibly and effectively plan for the future while addressing existing needs.

If you don’t receive a mailed survey in the coming days, we encourage you to participate in the online survey in the coming weeks. We need a high level of participation to compile accurate information, and the confidential surveys take only a few minutes to complete.

You can email questions to survey@cstx.gov.

Surveys help the City better understand your desires and are essential in improving our performance and providing the highest value for your tax dollars. Participating in the 2025 citizen survey is among the most productive and effective ways to make your voice heard.
