Celebrate Texas trees with College Station Parks and Recreation and the Texas A&M Forest Service at Trunk or Tree-t on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Wolf Pen Creek Festival Site.
The free, family-friendly event combines Halloween fun with an appreciation for the trees that make our communities healthier and greener. Enjoy games, children’s activities, prizes, treats and free tree seedlings while learning about trees, the habitats they create, their health and wellness benefits, and efforts to protect and preserve them.
With Halloween and Texas Arbor Day less than a week apart, Trunk or Tree-t highlights the many “treats” trees provide while giving families a fun way to learn more about their importance.
Free Tree Seedlings: Take home a free tree seedling while supplies last. Varieties include gum bumelia, cedar elm, bur oak, live oak, sugarberry and desert willow.
More Fall Fun: KK’s Party Art will provide free face painting, and Texas Sized Selfie will be on-site for free photos. Food and treats from Kidz Treats, Raging Bull Street Tacos and Manilla Bites will be available for purchase.
In addition, these community organizations will be on-site with activities and helpful information:
- Texas A&M Forest Service
- Texas Master Naturalist, Brazos Valley Chapter
- Grand Station Entertainment
- Books from Birth
- Post Oak Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas
- Citizens for Climate Action
- Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
- Student Society of American Foresters
Know Before You Go: Pets, alcohol and glass containers are not allowed. Free parking is available at the Meyer Senior and Community Center and Post Oak Mall. Accessible parking is available near Colgate Drive.
The celebration comes as College Station recognizes the importance of trees throughout the community. At Thursday’s City Council meeting, Mayor John Nichols will proclaim Nov. 6 as Texas Arbor Day, recognizing the crucial role trees play in our environment and communities and encouraging the next generation to develop an appreciation for forests.
Join us for an evening of Halloween fun, free tree seedlings and activities celebrating everything trees do for our community.
