Live Blog: Thursday’s city council meetings (Jan. 24)

Welcome to our live blog from the College Station City Council’s workshop and regular meetings on Thursday, Jan. 24. It’s not the official minutes.

The meetings can be watched live on Suddenlink channel 19 or online. An archive of previous council meetings is available on the website.

5:33 p.m.

The workshop has started. No action was taken out of executive session.

5:54 p.m.

Consent Agenda Discussion

The council will vote on items listed on the consent agenda during tonight’s regular meeting. Councilmembers pulled these consent items for workshop discussion:

6:10 p.m.

Online Desk Officer System

The council heard an overview of the Desk Officer Reporting System implemented by the College Station Police Department last summer. The system is part of the Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management System implementation and replaced a previous version of online self-reporting.

The goal is to optimize organizational efficiency and use of resources.

Residential Pavement and Parking

The council discussed parking and driveway pavement requirements for residential development, along with options for alternative pavement standards and maximum impervious lot coverage.

Mayor Mooney adjourned the workshop after the council discussed its calendar and received committee reports. The regular meeting will start after a short break.

The regular meeting has started.

7:04 p.m.

Hear Visitors

Ten people spoke during Hear Visitors when citizens might address the council on any item that doesn’t appear on the posted agenda.

Consent Agenda

The council voted unanimously to approve the entire consent agenda:

Board and Commission Appointments

The council appoints citizens and fellow council members to represent the City of College Station on committees and boards with other governmental agencies, community groups, and internal committees. The council made these appointments:

Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Greenways Advisory Board

Construction Board of Adjustments

Design Review Board

Historic Preservation Committee

Joint Relief Funding Review Committee

Parks and Recreation Board

The council discussed and reviewed future agenda items.

7:47 p.m.

Mayor Mooney adjourned the meeting. The council meets again on Thursday, Feb. 14.
